Find your Raspberry Pi's IP using OS X

This short guide shows you how to find the IP address of your Raspberry Pi from Mac OS X.

Open Terminal

Navigate to Applications > Utilities > Terminal.


Connect your Raspberry Pi to the network

Using an ethernet cable, connect your Raspberry Pi to your local network. Then, connect its power source.


Ping your Pi

Run the following command:

ping raspi

This should ping your Raspberry Pi and return its IP address. If you see an error similar to cannot resolve raspi: Unknown host, try running the following instead:

ping raspberrypi
