How to Screen Record on Android

If your device is updated to Android 10, you can use the built-in screen recording function. You'll need to enable it under Developer Options. Continue reading for instructions on enabling this functionality and learning how to record the screen on your Android device.

Android Developer Options

If you don't have Developer Options enabled, you can turn it on under Settings.

  1. Open Settings, and go to System.
  2. Scroll down until you find About Phone, and select it.
  3. Scroll down again until you find Build.
  4. Tap the word Build 7 times.
  5. Go back to the previous screen, and select Developer Options.
  6. Toggle the button at the top to enable Developer Options

The setting we need to enable is in the Developer Options menu.

  1. Open the Developer Options menu.
  2. Locate and Select Feature Flags.

This screen will load a list of variables that can be enabled and disabled.

  1. Look for "settings_screenrecord_long_press".
  2. Enable the setting with the toggle button to the right.

Screen recording is handled through the power menu.

  1. Press and hold the power button.
  2. Tap and hold Screenshot on the menu that pops up.
  3. Choose Start Recording to begin recording your screen.
