How to Turn on Bluetooth in macOS

Many Mac devices support Bluetooth. If you're not sure, check in the menu bar for a Bluetooth icon. If you see one, your machine has Bluetooth! This means you can add whatever Bluetooth device you want—from wireless speakers and headphones to peripherals like a mouse and keyboard.

Note: Make sure your Bluetooth device is in pairing mode before trying to connect it to your machine.

macOS Bluetooth settings.

Bluetooth settings will always be found under System Preferences. If your machine has Bluetooth capability, you can easily access these settings.

  1. Open the Apple Menu.
  2. Choose System Preferences.
  3. Click Bluetooth.
  4. Choose your Bluetooth device from the list.

Use the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar to enable bluetooth.

It's also possible to enable Bluetooth from the menu bar.

  1. Look through your menu bar for the Bluetooth icon.
  2. Select the Bluetooth icon. This will open a menu for Bluetooth settings.
  3. Choose your Bluetooth device from the list.
