How to filter out and remove Google Analytics language spam

Google Analytics spam is nothing new. But now spammers have realized that, since language appears in the initial Google Analytics dashboard view, spoofing the language code reaches eyeballs.

I logged into GA today to find a new language setting: "Secret.ɢoogle.com You are invited! Enter only with this ticket URL. Copy it. Vote for Trump!" I don't think that's a language.

This guide will show you how to filter out language spam from your Google Analytics (i.e. Universal Analytics) views.

1

Log into Google Analytics and navigate to Admin > Filters. Be sure to select the appropriate View first (if you use multiple Views). Then, click Add Filter.

2

Filter out GA language spam

Create a new Custom Filter using the following filter pattern, selecting Language Settings as the Filter Field:

.{12,}|\s[^s]*\s|\.|,|\!|\/

Save the filter. You're done!
