How to enable the dashboard in OS X El Capitan

As someone who uses OS X dashboard widgets often, I was dismayed to find out that Apple has hidden it by default. Thankfully, it's easy to reenable the dashboard in El Capitan. Here's how to do it.

**Please note: If you've updated to the MacOS Catalina, then the dashboard has been removed. You need to follow our guide on how to get dashboard on MacOS Catalina, in that case.

Open Mission Control in System Preferences

Navigate to System Preferences > Mission Control.

Reenable the El Capitan Dashboard

In the Dashboard dropdown, select As Overlay to mimic the original overlay behavior (recommended) or As Space to put the Dashboard into its own space.

Then, close System Preferences.

It's as close to the old Dashboard as you'll get!

We've got a decent alternative to the classic Mac Dashboard that you might grow to love even more.
