This guide will show you two options for adding a new font to use in Photoshop for Mac.

Note that the same process exists for adding fonts to Illustrator.

Font Install Screen Mac

When you install the font on your computer, it should be available across applications like Photoshop and Word.

If you're unsure how to do this, we created a step-by-step guide on finding and installing a new font on a Mac and one for installing multiple fonts on a Mac.

List of Fonts in Font Book
  1. Open "Font Book" by searching for it in your finder.
  2. Click the "+" sign at the top of the window to add a new font.
  3. Find the font you want to install. (If you downloaded it recently, it will likely be in your downloads folder.)
  4. Double-click the .ttf file to install.
  5. Enjoy your new font in Photoshop! (You may have to restart Photoshop for it to appear.)

You can add new fonts to Google Docs directly on the Google Doc screen. Once you've added the new font, it will be available each time you open Google Docs.
