How to make a Windows 10 Bootable USB Drive

A bootable flash drive is a great recovery tool. If your Windows 10 computer is crashing or experiencing issues like the blue screen of death, you can use a Windows 10 bootable USB drive to recover corrupted OS files. You can also use a Windows 10 bootable USB drive to install Windows 10 on a computer. You will need a valid Windows 10 license to use it, however.

Microsoft provides a Windows 10 installation media tool that can be used to create a bootable USB drive. First, visit the Windows 10 download page on the Microsoft website.

Look for the section titled Create Windows 10 installation media and click Download tool now.

When the media tool downloads, right-click and run the executable as an administrator. You'll be prompted with license terms, click Accept if you agree to them.

When the application loads, go to the What do you want to do? page. Choose Create installation media for another PC. Choose your preferred language and whether the build should be 32-bit or 64-bit.

Make sure the flash drive is connected. You'll need at least 8 GB of free space. Any existing data on the flash drive will be deleted. Click Next when you’re ready to create the drive.
