If you're using Zoom for a variety of meetings, you may want to adjust your name. You can change the default name everyone sees permanently or adjust your name to a preferred nickname after joining meetings. Your Zoom name is easy to adjust and can be changed at any time.

Change Zoom Name Before Meeting

Before you join a Zoom meeting, you have the opportunity to change your default name to anything you want. This name will only appear for the current meeting session.

Change Zoom Name in Meeting

Once you've joined a meeting, it's not too late to set a custom name. You can also change your nickname in a meeting if it's a meeting you've created— be sure to check out our guide on how to set up a Zoom meeting if you haven't made one before.

  1. At the top of the window, click Participants.
  2. Hover over your name in the meeting participants list.
  3. Go to More > Rename.
  4. Enter the new name and click OK.

You can also opt to change your Zoom name in a more permanent fashion by updating your profile name.

  1. Open a browser and go to zoom.us/signin.
  2. Choose Profile from the left sidebar.
  3. Next to your username, select Edit.
  4. Enter your new preferred name and choose Save Changes.

A simple way to keep track of your past Zoom meetings is to record them. Zoom has integrated recording features, although the host of the meeting will need to grant permission to do so.
