storyblock revived resource pack minecraft

By brodrost

Game Versions: 1.16, 1.17

For any fairy tale or fantasy lovers, Storyblock is a pack to have on your radar. Since I first discovered Storyblock, I’ve waited a long time for it to be updated for newer game versions. With a dash of medieval, Storyblock gives Minecraft a hard drawn but quirky look. For older game versions, check out the original resource pack.

clarity resource pack minecraft

By SCtester

Game Versions: 1.11, 1.12, 1.15, 1.16, 1.17

For the players that prefer an improved version of Minecraft that still holds true to its roots, then Clarity is the resource pack for them. Clarity is a balance of realism and simplicity, while still holding true to Minecraft’s traditional design. Textures are given more detail, but clear in its intent to stay simplistic, hence the name. It’s a low impact resource pack, so anyone can add it and run the game smoothly.

summerfields resource pack minecraft

By LithiumSound and Community

Game Versions: 1.8-1.17

Summerfields turns Minecraft into your favorite roleplay game. Fans of Fable or The Legend of Zelda will fall in love with this pack because of how immersive it is. The textures make you want to run through forests towards your next adventure. It’s a perfect pack for those looking to build in a medieval or fantasy aesthetic.

pure bdcraft resource pack minecraft

By Flavien Sphax and Team

Game Versions: 1.2-1.17

This is the ultimate texture pack for anyone who prefers a comic book style to Minecraft. PureBDcraft is a high definition pack that is clearly beloved by its creators. It’s incredibly accessible for all level of PCs because you can choose the resolution you want before downloading. There are 10 addons that range from font to 3D leaves to tools showing damage as their durability decreases.

The developers take it even further by offering a tool to customize the pack to the player’s preference, letting you choose specific textures and resolutions by block. They even have a music resource pack that adds more variety to Minecraft’s audio!

dokucraft resource pack minecraft

By HickeryDickery and Community

Game Versions: 1.8-1.16

While Dokucraft has similar styles to others already on this list, what makes it stand out is the dedication of its community. The original creator of Dokucraft stopped developing it before 1.8 released and since then, the community has come together to maintain the resource pack. Not only can you choose between three versions of it, but Dokucraft is compatible with most popular mods like Biomes O’ Plenty, Thaumcraft, and more!

misa's realistic resource pack minecraft

By Misa_64

Game Versions: 1.14-1.17

Inspired by old school RPGs, Misa’s Realistic has a semi-realistic vibe with a dash of medieval. Colors are darker and desaturated to reduce eyestrain, but it's meant to be faithful with vanilla Minecraft textures. It’s frequently updated by the developer and now has shader maps to improve the 3D modeling and textures of the pack itself!

lb photorealism resource pack minecraft

By 1LotS

Game Versions: 1.8-1.17

Based on the original LB PhotoRealism (LBPR) resource pack by Scuttles, LB PhotoRealism Reload is maintained by a new developer who uses older textures of LBPR with the goal of making Minecraft look realistic and attractive. The Reload version stays close to Minecraft’s default textures, but includes updated 3D models and animations.

creatures resource pack minecraft

By dbrighthd

Game Versions: 1.14-1.17

No matter the style of gameplay, one thing we all can agree on is that Minecraft lacks animal variety. Creatures+ makes mobs more realistic by adding variations to their textures. Rather than wolves all looking the same, Creatures+ adds variants of a pug, german shepard, border collie and more. There’s even special mobs that spawn only under certain conditions or when given a specific name!

modernarch resource pack minecraft

By Designio

Game Versions: 1.15-1.17

As someone who prefers modern architecture, ModernArch is a resource pack I’ve recently become obsessed with. While the higher resolution versions require purchase through Patreon, the 128x version is free to use and beautifully detailed. Focused on modern realism, ModernArch turns builds into a minimalist’s dream.

depixel resource pack minecraft

By Schmueles

Game Versions: 1.8-1.17

This resource pack doubles the resolution of Minecraft textures and gives an overall brighter feel to the game. For those that want to keep Minecraft’s default feel, but slightly improved, Depixel is the way to go. While the Extended add-on can only be purchased through Patreon, the 3D add-on brings adds some slight depth to blocks like the bookshelf and enchanting table.

ms painted resource pack minecraft

By Strideyyy

Game Versions: 1.8, 1.12, 1.16, 1.17

When I first saw this resource pack, I thought it was all a joke, which was the original intention of its creator. However, just like the creator, I realized just how wonderful the MS Painted resource pack really is. Created all from Microsoft Paint, the textures seem intense at first, but grow on you with their charm. Just take a look at the axolotl with MS Painted on, and you’ll see what I mean. There’s even a Biomes O’ Plenty supported add-on!

clear glass texture minecraft

By Dnator

Game Versions: 1.6-1.17

One default texture that needs improvement in Minecraft is glass. One of the reasons shaders and Optifine are so popular is their ability to make glass panes and blocks look nice. The Clear Glass Pack takes away streaks without changing the default Minecraft coloring. Plus, it has connected texture support, which means you can build large windows with a seamless and unobstructed view.

jerms better leaves add on resource pack minecraft

By JermsyBoy

Game Versions: 1.13-1.17

When you want to keep Minecraft’s default textures, but also want trees to have a little more depth, look no further than Jerm’s Better Leaves Add-on. You can use it without the main resource pack and even apply the Better Birch Leaves add-on to make all birch tree leaves yellow. This is just a simple texture pack to help make the world seem slightly more realistic.

epic adventures resource pack minecraft

By t0by1o9tt

Game Versions: 1.10-1.17

Epic Adventures provides a subtle medieval look to Minecraft. What makes it different from others is definitely the mob entity models. The creeper is especially unsettling with this pack. Epic Adventures builds upon default Minecraft textures, but adds a slightly desaturated look to the world. I highly recommend this pack to those looking for a medieval-adjacent theme.

fwhip bww texture pack minecraft

By fWhip

Game Versions: 1.13-1.16

Created by well-known Minecraft YouTuber fWhip, this texture pack was developed during his Building with fWhip series. While it’s not updated fully for the most recent game versions, BwW is worth trying out and can be used in 1.17. The main features of this pack are the improved design definition, connected textures, and even improved wheat!

unity dark edition dark GUI minecraft

By theCyanideX

Game Versions: 1.8, 1.12-1.17

While this doesn’t change textures of blocks or items, Unity does alter the coloring of the game’s GUI windows and menus. This resource pack is perfect for anyone who needs a break from the eye straining default GUI.

winthor medieval resource pack minecraft

By Studio_Winthor

Game Versions: 1.6-1.17

Whether you’re in a SMP server or just want to relive Skyrim without actually playing the game for the umpteenth time, Winthor Medieval is a resource pack to consider. The textures mimic the grimy and rustic feeling of the Middle Ages throughout the entire Minecraft world. Whether you’re roaming through a village or traversing the Nether, Winthor Medieval fully immerses you without feeling as if you’re playing a whole different game.

faithful pbr resource pack minecraft
This photo features the 512x add-on for Faithful PBR.

By PapaChefCool

Game Versions: 1.14-1.16

Faithful PBR is not just one resource pack, but seven versions that all add detail, reflection, and 3D textures to Minecraft. While it doesn’t add any specific theme or aesthetic, it’s perfect for anyone who wants Minecraft to just look prettier. I don’t recommend anything higher than the 512x add-on for most computers, as you still want to be able to walk around the world and play Minecraft.

invictus resource pack minecraft

By showboxam

Game Versions: 1.5-1.16

What makes Invictus so unique isn’t its fancy name, but the simplistic modern theme it adds to a Minecraft game. Colors feel crisp and the design of the texture is clean, as the developer aims to improve upon Minecraft’s default textures without feeling too flashy or distracting.

firewolf 3d resource pack minecraft

By Keitsu42

Game Versions: 1.8-1.17

Have you ever considered what Minecraft would look like if Pixar was involved in its development? Firewolf 3D is as close to Pixar’s art style as you can get. With clean lines and bright coloring, it’s a beautiful resource pack that blends smooth and sharpness together.

adventure time refurbished resource pack minecraft

By WFlyingSquirrel

Game Versions: 1.13-1.17

Fans of Adventure Time or its cartoon art style will love the Adventure Time Refurbished resource pack. As you’d expect, it brings the beloved TV show to Minecraft along with custom mob models, coloring from the show, and custom biome dependent textures!

A Touch of Trek resource pack minecraft
Look at that space suit!

By Cygnus656

Game Version: 1.17

We’d be ashamed to not include this Star Trek themed resource pack. A Touch of Trek adds custom and animated textures as well as 3D models that replicated items from the Star Trek universe. While it can be used in regular survival mode, the developer recommends using this pack for roleplay purposes since some building blocks were replaced with sci-fi models.

simplistico resource pack minecraft

By Comper

Game Versions: 1.14-1.17

Simplistico is a resource pack that aims to keep the default pixelation style of Minecraft while reducing the variety of colors in its palette. With connected textures, Simplistico adds slight detailing to tools and weapons, while minimizing distracting designs for generated blocks. I highly recommend this pack for those looking to play Minecraft with slight design changes.

patrix resource pack minecraft

By Patrix

Game Versions: 1.14-1.17

This is a resource pack that blows many others away. Patrix makes Minecraft look like a completely different game. With unique styled tools and weapons, Patrix adds beautiful 3D detailing to every block and item within Minecraft. Even the armor is photorealistic! While the 128x and 256x versions of the pack require Patreon purchase, the 32x is completely free and ready to upgrade your Minecraft experience

Fallout Paradise resource pack minecraft

By Lexline

Game Versions: 1.8-1.16

Obviously, this is a resource pack made for Fallout fans. Fallout Paradise overhauls the entire Minecraft texture and aesthetic by turning it into a post-apocalyptic dream (or nightmare). Thankfully unlike the Fallout franchise, the world’s flora and fauna are still around and thriving. Blocks normally used in Minecraft to build are made to look like metal scraps and sheets, so you can create the perfect shelter to get you through those difficult and dangerous nights.
